King of the court pickleball generator
Updated 1 November 2026
King of the court is the up-and-down-the-river format: courts are ranked, and after every game the winners move up a court and the losers move down, with partners split. Within a few rounds the strongest players gather on court 1, the king court. Use this page to work out courts and waiting players, draw round 1 at random, and print a court ladder.

How players move
- Winners move up one court and split up, so each takes a new partner. Winners on court 1 stay on court 1.
- Losers move down one court and split up. Losers on the bottom court stay there.
- Waiting players (when the number isn't a multiple of four) come back in on the bottom court, and the people who wait rotate so nobody waits twice before everyone has waited once.
Rank the session by games won, then point difference. Many clubs also give a small prize to whoever is on court 1 when time runs out. The king of the court guide has the full rules and a court diagram.
